The Sea Harriers used in the Falklands conflict had their undersides repainted the same as the top on the way out to the islands. I think this is an authentic photo of one. It was nick-named "La Muerta Negra" by the Argentines which translates "The Black Death". It must have looked Black from a distance.

Hey Static, I read a bit on the BMS forum about skins, once you've made them do they show up on the live server? I'd like to make a skin for the Harrier based on the RAAF and also one for the Royal New Zealand Air force even though neither operate Harriers. It'd be fun to do it.

Yes I've taken your advice and added a pause between calls for each command. For the moment I'm entering the default commands as listed but will strip them back to either one or two words per command.

Yeah I've loaded most of the commands as they appear in the pop dialog boxes for now and then I'll edit/shorten the commands to something easier to say. e.g. Landing on the carrier, final approach, actual command. Harrier 1-1, request runway, I have the ball, hook down, three green. Doing the speech recognition tutorial a few times helps too.

Hi, I'm looking at using Voice Activation Software to manage my communications with the Tower, AWACS and AI team mates. Anyone had any experience doing this and can you recommend a decent program that I can install? cheers, Kav

I can S/VTOL off the carrier and normal runway just my VTOL landing is a bit dodgey at the moment but with practice who knows, jees I've only been flying the Harrier for a couple weeks or so. Its an beautiful aircraft to fly but damn noisy.
If you have a full bomb load you'll never get the thing off the deck using VTOL that's why I'm using the catapult which is quite easy to use. Landing with the catching wire whatever they're called is not too bad too, just need to come in at a steady pace and hit that area where the wire traps are, you can get away with quite a bit of air speed, I normally give it 20-30 deg of nozzle which helps with the AOA. I also mapped the VTOL nozzles to my Trim switch which makes it easy to adjust the Harrier for accelerating/decelerating transitions.
I've been holding off a bit until I could get myself to this level but for sure Static, we can hook up on the server sometime.

I was lucky not to kill myself releasing bombs in a dive, not a good idea...lol. Hey Rotblut lets team up with Semler, Static and anyone else who wants to. Sem's been generous with his knowledge of the sim. We can all benefit from sharing information on how to do things.

I might be tempted if we were allowed to form a VG infantry squad.

That can happen on game tracker when someone tries to add you to their friends list. I've made that mistake before, its a lot easier to add a friend if they have a profile and vice versa.

Harrier training in BMS, I managed my first landing on a carrier without bursting into flames, flying off the end of the runway, or smashing into to the rear of the ship.

I've reported the Fallujah West issue regarding FOBS to the PR site because we discovered that yesterday. Next map was ok so it sounds like its specific to that map.

Hey Nibbles, Read my post man, I told Golakka this is not a clan versus clan event, its about the players who play on the VG server so you're guys better be prepared to not play together.

Ok that gives me a target to aim for, Golakka from GI wanted to know whether they could play together I said I'd find out but I told him that intention of the event was to include all players and resist creating OP squads leaving the rest of the team unbalanced.

Ok no problem, I can see what your intentions are for the event. I've already started recruiting players to come and play so Semler's idea to promote the event will help to point people in the right direction. If the event is primarily about getting more new players involved can I suggest that the password is definitely up on the page for those who do not use Team Speak or don't have mics?

So my normal default kits for Alpha Group fighting on Goose Green would be: Officer Kit Medic 1 Medic 2 Breacher Automatic Rifleman Rifleman/LAT Grenadier Rifleman/HAT If we cut that back to 5 man squad i guess we go with: Officer Kit Medic 1 Engineer (for digging FOBs) Automatic Rifleman Rifleman/LAT @Double_13 You could try that poll idea to see if that works but some guys are not members of this forum.

Ok thanks TEDF, I'll be there to lead Alpha Group, I'll try and organize or at least get players to commit to the event. Its added incentive if they know that the group is relying on them they tend to turn up. Randoms of course will be more than welcome to fill the gaps if we get AWOLs. Also I'm sure someone can lead a squad if needed.
